The Power of a Card

There is something powerful about a handwritten card.

When I was about 14 I came home from school to find small envelope on my pillow. It wasn't my birthday. It wasn't Christmas. I was a little unsure as to where it came from and why it was there.

I opened it up to discover a handwritten card from my dad. For no other reason than to tell me that he loved me and was proud of me. It felt pretty special to receive a card "just because".

A few days ago a friend of mine messaged me to say she'd be sorting through some of her stuff and found a stash of cards and letters I'd sent her over the years. Re-reading them was pretty special for her, amd knowing that they meant enough to her that she kept them, made me feel pretty special too.

I also have a box full of cards, letters and notes people have given me over the years. A special collection that remind me that I am loved and cared for. That someone cared enough to write some encouraging words down and give them to me.

There is something powerful about a card. It can literally change someone's world.

Who is someone that would be encouraged by a handwritten card from you? Go on, spend a bit of time writing to them.
